Maybe a complete beauty overhaul is what you really need. Overhaul is defined as:
“…to examine or go over carefully for needed repairs”
If cars and other things can be overhauled, why not our beauty? Everyone can use an occasional makeover. If you’re feeling and looking blah, go for it.
Have you ever seen any of those TV shows where they take someone from the audience, work on them like crazy backstage, then an hour later, unveil the “new you”? That’s a beauty overhaul. But let’s be realistic. A beauty overhaul doesn’t require a team of professional experts to work on you.
I’m 55 years old and don’t like to look my age so I’ve performed a beauty overhaul many times. I also consider myself a semi pro on the subject because:
1. I’m getting old and I’m desperately trying to not look my age. I always stay up to date on the newest and the best. I’m kind of obsessed about it
2. I have tried TONS, I mean TONS of beauty overhaul type products. I’ve bought so many beauty overhaul products that I could start my own store if I wanted to
3. I know what to look for in beauty overhaul products. I got very tired of feeling scammed by false claims about different products. I made it my mission to not fall for scams any more
Where Do You start???
Here’s just a few tips on your beauty overhaul:
Your Face
Your face is the most obvious place for your beauty overhaul to start. Are you really taking care of your face? Any beauty overhaul should start with a basic skin care regimen. That means cleanse, tone and moisturize. Same thing every day, twice a day – morning and night. Add exfoliating once a week depending on your skin type. A weekly mask is a good idea too for deep cleansing.
Remove your makeup every night.
Don’t overdo it with the makeup. We’ve all seen someone wearing way too much of it. Try to picture that someone when you’re applying your own makeup.
A good magnifying mirror is an absolute must. A mirror with lights on it is even better. WARNING: If you’ve never used a magnifying mirror before, looking into one the first time may be very scary.
Use sunscreen!!! If you don’t, you’ll regret it someday.
Now What?
Your Makeup
We’ve all seen people that wear too much makeup. Looks awful, doesn’t it? Use that mirror (the magnifying side of the mirror) that I was talking about when you apply your makeup. Use a foundation that has moisturizer and sunscreen in it.
Your Smile
I’ve seen too many people with dingy looking teeth and it can really ruin a pretty face. There are some good, easy to use teeth whitening products. I use Crest White Strips and they work great for me. A power tooth brush also helps keep your teeth whiter and brighter. It also helps prevent receding gums. These were all simple suggestions from my dentist.
Your Hair
I tried something pretty wild recently. My hair was looking pretty dull and I saw something called "Salon Glaze" by Tekkai. The results were pretty surprising - perked up, shiny hair! Works best if you use a clarifying shampoo first.
Sleep
Make sure you get enough sleep. Being sleep deprived is a serious medical risk. Your mind is not as sharp when you’re sleep deprived. Not only that, your immune system is weakened without enough sleep.
Occasionally, I have trouble falling asleep and I’m not crazy about taking sleeping pills. A cup of chamomile tea and a warm bath work wonders. There are also some decent over the counter sleep aids.
Well, those are a just a few of my hot tips on a beauty overhaul.
Good Luck!!
